As a High Adventure Troop member, you can expect to spend upwards to 35 days out of the year out on the trail. No, we are not walking all the time, some of our time is spent swimming, rock climbing or canoeing.
The Troop is fortunate to have property alongside the Comal River, so aquatic activities come naturally. It is probably one of the nicer rivers in Texas and since it meets the Guadalupe River 1/4 mile downstream, the canoes come in reeeal handy.
Rock Climbing and Rappelling training occurs on the Climbing/Rappelling Tower on the Scout Hut Property. With a 50 foot climbing wall and two descending routes, the three wall tower is a great way to build up your skills (and your nerve) in a controlled environment. More advanced Scouts work with Ascenders and Belay Devices to learn the proper techniques in climbing and climbing Rescue.

Hiking is skill too! Anyone can walk, but can you walk out into the wilderness with everything that you need to survive on your back? After a couple of trips with us, you will be well on your way in understanding the techniques and abilities of the proficient Backpacker. (here's one secret, don't bring more than you can carry….then cut that in half!) We make many 1-2 day hikes throughout the year, and then at least one major 4-5 day excursion that usually happens during Spring Break!

Scoutmaster: Tobin Hoffmann - 35+ years of Scouting Experience including one National and World Jamboree. Would rather be outside most of the time
Asst. Scoutmasters: Michael Kohlenberg - 35 + years of Scouting Experience including Extended Outdoor activities such as Philmont Scout Reservation . PADI certified commercial diver .
Dale Cumberland - A great guy with the patience of Job, (he needs it to put up with the other 2!)
Paul Pixley - Worked for NASA as a mathematician and is retired and helping with the Troop. How many Troops can say that they have a "rocket scientist" helping?
Mike Stallings-- Takes care of signups for Spring Break, Summer Camp and of course our one fund raiser, Christmas Greenery Sales!
Eric Marshall - Takes care of advancement records while he is not flying jets for the Air Force.
Dr. Jay Weinberg - Takes care of our medical needs at home and away...and then he's around for your boys too!
And a ton of great Dads and Moms that help all the time!
